LSS OF THE DAY: "JUST LIKE A PILL" BY PINK

Let's get right down to business, people!

First Day of School: Tita Marissa and I left Fairview around past 9 in the morning. Then we dropped her off at the hospital where she was to have her daily exercises for her wrist (she broke it last year; you could still see the difference between her fine hand and her injured hand) and then she had her driver drop me off in front of my dorm.

I quickly got dressed and headed for school. I met up with my friends and we endured four hours of classes; well, just two, because two of our professors didn't show up. Then we had a really late lunch in one of the restos in the carpark. On the way back from there, I ran into Rolando Diaz, aa former schoolmate of mine from Dominican and now, my fellow Thomasian. We sat down and we started talking when Michelle Carag passed us by, then Jethro Dimalanta and Richard Silva. I can't believe that I saw so many of them in just that day! And then Jeseth De Vera joined our conversation after awhile. She was already limping while she was walking past us (apparently she didn't notice that we were there until Rolando called her) because her heel was bleeding really badly because of her shoes. And because of that, she was forced to skip her first P.E. class (it's just orientation anyway); but the thing that really bothered her was the reactios of her Mom and older sister. Her older sister is sort of like a perfectionist; she graduated valedictorian in her high school class and she's a Dean's Lister in her class right now. So she feels pressured to live up to her family's expectations that she'll do as well as her older sister. I feel kinda sorry for her but I know she can do it. We got a little hungry from talking so we went to McDonald's where we also waited for another fellow former Dominican, Stacey Manuel. A lot more taking took place before she arrived so we left McDo around past 6 already. But it was really nice to see them.

I went to the dorm and arranged all my things; because it was so hot I was sweating so badly by the time I was done. I took a nice, cold bath but as soon as I stepped out of the bathroom, I immediately started sweating. And it got worse when I got to my room; I share a room with two other people and we have to share double-deck beds. I met the girl who's sleeping below me (I took the top bunk) and we talked the whole night. Turns out that we almost like the same things; there are too many of them to mention. So, anyway, there was a celing fan and it didn't even reach me! So I borrowed the little elctric fan of our other room mate (who, luckily for me, went home that night so I could use it) and placed it on my bed. But I still sweated the whole night.

Second Day Of School: I recieved news from my brother that Roxy (our puupy) passed away. I got so depressed when I found out; at first I really didn't want to believe it so I asked my sister if it was true. I waited with baited breath for her response. I prayed that it wasn't true; but it was.

Sad to say, all my professors were present. And what was worse, our schedule was 1 in the afternoon to 7 at night. I can't believe how tiring that schedule is! I mean, when we all left the classroom, we all looked so tired and haggard that we looked like zombies! And just when we thought that nothing can top that off, get this; Professor Neurotic-Psychotic is our professor in Industrial Psychology. As if spending one whole semester with her wasn't enough! ARRGH!. Sweated the whole night in the dorm, again.

Third Day Of School: Completely exhausted from lack of sleep, I dragged my feet to school and plopped down in my usual seat and tried to keep my eyes open for four grueling hours. I can't believe we have Finance. Crap.

After class, I went back to the dorm, changed clothes and left for the bus station. I took a taxi because I thought that it would be faster; but the traffic was unbelievable! I had a really nice conversation with the driver of the taxi that I was on; and again, we had a lot of similarities (even though he's already in his fifties). Finally arriving at the bus statin, we left about ten minutes after I got on. I slept through most of the ride. But when we were in Sta. Barbara or Urdaneta, the bus stopped and all the lights and the aircon was turned off. I think they had some complications with the engine or something. So we rode the rest of the way in the dark and in the stiffling heat. I got down in Jollibee Calasiao 'coz that's where Mom was going to meet me. Then we went to Tapuac. Home Sweet Home.

Whew!

I've got a lot of homework to do.

I'm going to Davao on July 21 with my cousins, Maui and Nina

I read one of my friends' blogs just awhile ago and I was really touchedd at what she said. Thank you for defending me and caring for me. I really appreciate it.

I'm going back to Manila early Monday morning.

I got this e-mail from my Tita the other day:

It was the first day of school in Washington, DC and a new student
named Dagohoy, the son of a Filipino immigrant, entered the fourth
grade.

The teacher began, "Let's review some American history, class. Who
said 'Give me liberty or give me death?'"

She saw a sea of blank faces, except for Dagohoy's who had his hand
up,"Patrick Henry, 1775."

"Very good," said the teacher.

"Who said 'Government of the people, by the people, and for the
people, shall not perish from the earth'"?

Again, no response except from Dagohoy: "Abraham Lincoln, Gettysburg ,
1863," he said.

The teacher snaps at the class, "Class, you should be ashamed, Dagohoy
who is new to our country knows more about our history than you do."

She hears a loud whisper from the back: "Screw the Filipinos."

"Who said that?" she demanded.

Dagohoy put his hand up. "General John Pershing, Manila, 1896."

At that point, Jack, another student says, "I'm going to puke."

The teacher glares and asks, "All right! Now who said that?"

Again Dagohoy answers, "George Bush, Sr. to the Japanese Prime
Minister during the state dinner, Tokyo , 1991."

Now furious, another student yells, "Oh yeah? Suck this!!

"Dagohoy jumps out of his chair waving his hand and shouts to the
teacher at the top of his voice, "Bill Clinton to Monica Lewinsky, the
Oval Office, 1997!!"

Someone shouts, "You little shit if you say anything else, I'll kill you."

Dagohoy yells, "Congressman Gary Condit to Chandra Levy, Washington,
D.C., 2001!"

The teacher faints.

"I'm outta here!" mutters one student as he sidles to the door.

"President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, Baguio City, December 30, 2002 !!"
Dagohoy responds.

As the class gathers around her on the floor, someone says, "Oh
shit, now we're really in big trouble!"

"Saddam Hussein, on the Iraq invasion, Baghdad, May 2003!" Dagohoy bellowed.

"Now, I really have to run," Jack mutters, heading for the exit.

"Gloria Macapagal Arroyo again, Pampanga, October 4, 2003!!!" Dagohoy
shouts triumphantly jumping with glee.

Then a burly African-American boy grabbed Dagohoy and strangled him,
about to give a fistful to a frightened Dagohoy.

Then an Asian boy stood up and shouted, "Hey easy on him. I'M A FILIPINO!"

Dagohoy then blurted out before he got socked out, "Fernando Poe, Jr.
Manila, January 2004!!!"
